Fraxel Resurfacing

Fraxel Laser Treatments

Fraxel laser, known to physicians such as Dr.Radmila as fractional photo-thermolysis, we are now able to dramatically improve skin texture, smooth out acne scars, improve pigmentation problems such as Melasma and brown spots, and reduce fine to moderate lines and wrinkles in just a few treatments with minimal to no downtime.

Using Fraxel Laser or the Clear + Brilliant device, known as ‘baby fraxel’ we can stimulate regeneration of the deeper collagen and elastin tissues while resurfacing around 20% – 30% of your skins surface with each treatment. These lasers can remodel collagen within the skin without harming your skin’s surface, while producing smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin with minimal downtown. Fractional-thermolysis lasers provide all of the improvements associated with ablative laser procedures but without any significant interference with daily activities.

About your skin

We are all born with smooth, baby soft skin. As we go through life, skin is subject to numerous experiences that less it less than perfect. Some of us are lucky enough to escape these hazards, although time, heredity and gravity are still doing their part to create fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the mouth and eyes. Over-exposure to the sun, alcohol use, and smoking are all known to significantly accelerate the development of these natural signs of ageing.

Until now we have only had two laser options to treat aging and sun-damaged skin; ablative laser procedures and non ablative lasers. Ablative lasers produce great results but come with significant side effects and prolonged recovery. Non-ablative lasers promise minimal recovery but provide less dramatic results.

Fraction resurfacing Lasers are effective on:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles – like crow’s feet and brow lines
  • Surface scarring – erasing effects of acne and other scarring
  • Pigmentation – minimizing the appearance of age spots
  • Sun damage – helping heal dangerous skin damage
  • Actinic Keratosis (AK) – a common pre-cancerous skin condition

What is the treatment like?
First, the area is cleansed. For your comfort, a topical anesthetic ointment is applied to the treatment area. The laser therapist (Kristie Norton) or Dr.Radmila Lukian will glide the hand-piece precisely over the surface of the skin, covering the entire face and focusing on problematic areas. There is minimal discomfort whilst the treatment is being performed, however once we have completed the procedure, your face will feel hot like ‘mild sunburn’ and you may have some mild swelling. Treatments normally take about 20-25 minutes.

How does it work?
The Fraxel type Lasers are specially designed to alter only portions of the target skin tissue. The Laser creates multiple, microscopic, subsurface thermal injuries the skin. Together these mirco-injuries cause a change in the collegen and elastin which gradually improves the appearance of your ageing and sun-damaged skin. It also results in a healing process with very little, if any downtime. In addition, the laser penetrates to a very precise, controlled depth, making the procedure safe and predictable, while reducing the risk of scarring or pigmentation problems.

How many treatments will I need?
You will see a good effect after the first treatment; however, most indications seem to respond dramatically after only 3-6 treatments, spaced around every 3-4weeks. The Fractional Laser produces a gradual remodeling of the collagenunder the skins surface. Improvments in the appearance of your skin will continue for up to six months or more. Maintenance sessions are recommended once seasonally.
